Nash's OT goal lifts Blue Jackets past Stars

04/06/2007 - Columbus, OH (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Rick Nash scored just 64 seconds into overtime to lift the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 2-1 win over the Dallas Stars at Nationwide Arena.

Nash fought off a checker along the right wall, grabbed the puck and skated into the slot where he snapped a wrister over the glove of Mike Smith for the victory.

Manny Malhotra scored the other goal and Fredrik Norrena made 19 saves for the Blue Jackets, who snapped a four-game slide.

Stu Barnes scored the lone goal and Smith finished with 26 saves for the Stars, who have dropped their last two games.

With 103 points Dallas sits in the sixth spot in the Western Conference.

Dallas got the only goal of the first period as Nils Hagman snapped a backhander on net that Norrena stopped, but the rebound went to the low right circle where Barnes banged it into the net at the 6:50 mark.

Smith made five saves in the opening frame.

Neither side scored in the middle stanza with Columbus having eight shots on net and Dallas seven.

Columbus evened the score in the third period when Malhotra received a pass at the top of the left circle and blasted a slap shot through the pads of Smith with 6:57 left in regulation.

Game Notes

The Stars finish their season with a pair of games at home. First against Anaheim on Friday and then Chicago on Sunday to finish the regular season...Columbus plays its last game of the season on Saturday against Anaheim in Columbus...Columbus' Jason Chimera assisted on the Malhotra goal, his 100th career point...Columbus won three of four games against Dallas this season...Neither team scored on the power play with Dallas having six chances and Columbus three.
