04/06/2007 - Nashville, TN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - David Legwand scored a pair of goals as the Nashville Predators downed the St. Louis Blues, 4-1, at Nashville Arena.
Alexander Radulov and Peter Forsberg each had a goal for the Predators, who snapped a three-game slide. Tomas Vokoun finished the game with 21 saves.
"I thought we came out and did the right things and we were rewarded," said Nashville coach Barry Trotz. "We got some momentum in the second period. We got the one goal and on the shift right after we got another goal and if you can build on that, that's real key."
Nashville now has 108 points and sits in the fourth seed in the Western Conference. Due to Detroit's 3-2 shootout loss to Chicago on Thursday, the Red Wings locked up the Central Division.
Christian Backman scored the lone goal and Jason Bacashihua made 22 saves for the Blues, who had won three of four coming into the game.
"We played hard right up till the last minute," said Blues coach Andy Murray. "In most cases with us it's not a failure of willpower or determination, it's a failure to execute. We need to execute better."
The Predators grabbed the lead quickly as a wrist shot from Legwand at the left circle found the right corner of the net just 11 seconds in.
However, St. Louis tied the game with 11 seconds left in the first period as a shot from the right point by Backman went through a screen and past Vokoun to make it a 1-1 game.
Nashville took a 2-1 lead in the second with a power-play goal as a pass from Jason Arnott at the left side tipped off the stick of a Blues skater to the right side where Legwand tapped it in at the 12:02 mark.
Just 28 seconds later, the Predators made it a 3-1 contest as Radulov's snap shot from the low left circle beat Bacashihua over the right shoulder.
Vokoun made six saves in the middle frame.
Forsberg scored his 13th goal of the year, this one on the power play, just 4:12 in to give Nashville a 4-1 win and seal the victory.
